This time, weâre going to talk about social media. Why is it important? Because nowadays, we live in a digital world, and itâs very important to understand the impacts and the implications that you might be getting into if you donât manage your social media platforms very well.
If you are looking to build a brand through social media, this article will help you. By social media, we are talking about platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, you name it. Now, you might be thinking, âOkay, social media, youâre talking about investments. What does that have to do with me?â It has to do a lot because probably youâve heard of the saying that people tend to judge a book by its cover. Nowadays, social media is your cover.
People are going to check your social media before they even decide to either want to hire you or want to do business with you. It is very important that you keep that in mind so that you are presenting yourself with the best etiquette as possible.
There are a few trends that you should always keep in check in order to maintain a good social media profile:
1. Be discreet.
Whatâs one thing about real estate investors or investors in general? They like to be discreet. Every time they go out, and they put themselves on a deal, or they want to buy a home for themselves, they donât say who they are.
Typically, what they do is that they do it through a third party, they do it through somebody who is going to keep their anonymity because theyâre looking to get the best possible price, the best possible deal out in the market. When you go ahead and you, you wonât get the same deals.
The fact that you just flash all the way out there, itâs not good business acumen. Thereâs a reason why millionaires create multiple LLCs and multiple legal entities to protect their assets, and you are not the exception. You can become a liability if youâre not discreet with them, and you can lose business out of it.

2. You shouldnât be extravagant
When you are self-made, you value hard work, you value money. You donât want to go ahead and invest your money with someone else, and then all of a sudden that person is flashing a Ferrari out there, flashing piles of cash all over parties with champagne bottles being thrown all over the club. You definitely donât want that type of individual to be part of your brand building because it just goes to say, âHey, when is this person even working?â
3. Ask yourself: âWhat do I want people to remember me by?â
We live in an era of influencers where we see a very extravagant lifestyle, traveling for free, Coachella, clubs, alcohol, drinking, money flashing all over the place.
If thatâs what you want people to know you for, great, excellent, youâve achieved your goal. Typically, people get confused with that because they just happen to follow the wrong people. If you want to become an influencer, then thatâs great, but if you donât want to become an influencer, you want to attract a certain caliber of customers, people who are discreet, people who have a lot of money, thatâs not the way to attract them.

We live in a world where every time you go out to a networking event, people no longer ask for your business cards. What they do is, âHey, whatâs your website? Hey, whatâs your Instagram because I want to DM you and get in touch?â If you have a YouTube channel, well, thatâs great.
They usually donât expect you to have a YouTube channel, but they do expect you to at least have a website and an Instagram account. Once again, people tend to judge a book by its cover. Is that the brand that you want to portray?
If you want to go ahead and become a social media influencer and be a party planner and all of that stuff, then thatâs the great image that you want to portray. If you want to attract partners who are going to go out there and do syndications with you and big deals and multimillion-dollar portfolios, thatâs not the way to portray yourself because that has a lot to say about your brand.
Advice: Post professional-looking pictures on social media
People donât want that. People want a disciplined person who is going to be committed, who is going to be discreet, and knows how to handle money. If youâre trying to look professional and attract high-net-worth individuals, you have to post a picture on social media that is of good quality, no selfies showing off skin or no selfies showing the duck lip where youâre posing with your big lips out there, especially not the kind of picture where it shows that youâre taking a picture of a mirror and then the mirrorâs reflecting back your image. Remember that there are multiple easy ways to make a professional photo.
You can dress professionally, just put in a little stool, and then just press the phone and have the phone take multiple shots of you, or maybe you can just go out to the park with a friend who can help you take a good and a decent picture. Itâs something that is not that difficult. You donât have to spend thousands of dollars in order to get a professional mugshot, but definitely, it is very important because your social media profile picture says a thousand words about you.
